Charles Warren Stoddard letters, 1869-1898.

Letters written by writer Charles W. Stoddard to his lifelong friend Theodore F. Dwight. The letters were written during Stoddard's travels to Hawaii, Europe, and other locations as a writer for the San Francisco Chronicle; as an English literature professor at the University of Notre Dame (Ind.) from 1885-87 and Catholic University of America (Washington, D.C.) from 1889 until his death. The letters make references to his career as a writer and discuss his travels and teaching at the university level, but primarily concern personal matters.
